A report conducted in Auckland, New Zealand finds that best e cigarette are simply as efficient in helping smokers quit tobacco as the nicotine patch.
The outcomes were published in prestigious Lancet health journal – View study Documents , add weight to the people who feel e-cigarettes needs to be welcomed as quitting smoking devices.
At one of the first randomized, controlled trials on e-cigarettes, 657 smokers were allocated either e-cigarettes, the nicotine patch or nicotine free electronic cigarettes (Placebo). After half a year, 7.8 per cent of the using e-cigs abstained from cigarettes, followed by those using the nicotine patch at 5.8 % as well as the placebo group at 4.1 %. There were almost no substantial changes in adverse incidents seen in between the three groups.

“The results were encouraging for smokers that want to try various ways to assist them quit.”

“There are some obvious factors why. The electronic cigarette does a significantly better job of replacing some behavioural elements of smoking that lots of people miss when they quit (e.g. the hand-to-mouth dexhpky09 and the sensation of smoke within your mouth and throat), along with delivering nicotine.”
E-cigarettes, without or with nicotine, were modestly efficient at helping smokers to stop, with a similar achievement of abstinence much like nicotine patches, and few adverse events. Uncertainty exists in regards to the host to e cig vapor flavors in tobacco control, and much more research is urgently needed to clearly establish their overall benefits and harms at both individual and population levels.
